| Boonton company admits criminal fault in deaths of two workers in trench collapse |
A landscaping company pleaded guilty Thursday to failing to properly shore up a trench that caved in, suffocating two laborers in Boonton Township.
More than three years after Bednar Landscape Services Inc. workers Oscar Portillo and Selvin Zelaya were killed on Oct. 1, 2014, the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office on Jan. 9 filed criminal charges against the company, President Keith Bednar and corporate secretary Christopher C. Liberatore.
Attorney John O’Reilly, who represents the corporation, entered a guilty plea Thursday to causing or risking widespread injury or damage on behalf of Bednar Landscape Services in state Superior Court.
