Bergen man charged with trying to steal from Secaucus store: police

A Bergen County man was caught trying to shoplift at the Home Depot in Secaucus, town police said.

The 45-year-old Steven Scotti of Bogota man was charged with shoplifting on Jan. 31, and he was also arrested on two outstanding warrants in the amount of $2,000 from Lodi and Bogota. Scotti was transported to Hudson County jail.

Also, on Jan. 31, police on patrol at 12:30 a.m. came upon a vehicle parked away from curb, idling and the person inside appeared to be sleeping, Secaucus police Capt. Dennis Miller said. Felix Colarte, 28, of North Bergen, was charged with possession of marijuana and taken to Hudson County jail, Miller said.
