A Hackettstown couple was killed in a three-car accident on Route 80 Wednesday, leaving behind two children.
The couple — driver John Rodriguez, 52, and passenger Dawn Rodriguez, 49 — was traveling westbound on Route 80 in a Honda when a tire blew out on a Kenworth truck traveling eastbound near exit 25 at 4:34 p.m., according to Trooper Gene Hong.

| NJ Teen Pens Tribute To Parents Who Died Together In Crash |
A New Jersey teen whose parents were tragically killed Wednesday in a crash on Rt. 80 penned a heartfelt and tearjerking tribute to them on social media, calling on people to hug their parents because you never know when someone won’t be there anymore.
“Tonight I lost both of my parents in the accident on Route 80,” Selena Rodriguez wrote in an emotional Facebook post announcing their deaths. “For those of you complaining about the traffic please think twice about how you feel angry from a 30 minute delay.”
