Dover man sentenced to 300 days for speeding death of friend

A 21-year-old Dover man was sentenced to 300 days in jail, probation and community service following the 100 mph crash that killed his friend and passenger.

Lisandro Lorenzo pleaded guilty in Superior Court, Morristown, in November to assault by auto on Feb. 26, 2017 that led to the death of his passenger and close friend, Joshua Rivas, 21.

Lorenzo’s speed of up to 100 mph was the cause of the crash on Route 80 west in Rockaway Township, according to Morris County Assistant Prosecutor Christopher Schellhorn.
