Garfield Online Cellphone Sale Leads to Armed Robbery Charges for Teens

Two Garfield teens charged in armed robbery during cellphone sale

Two teens were charged Tuesday in a Garfield armed robbery that started with a cellphone sale arranged online, according to police.

One of the teens, a 15-year-old boy and 17-year-old boy, both from Garfield, pulled out a handgun during the sale set up on Malcolm Avenue Sunday and took cash from the two victims, Garfield Capt. Darren Sucorowski stated. They then fled north on Malcolm Avenue.

The boys were charged with delinquency acts of robbery and weapons possession, according to Sucorowski.
