| Hopatcong man, 24, charged with assault, impregnating minor |
A 24-year-old borough man is lodged in the county jail after police say he sexually assaulted a minor and impregnated her.
Andrew Laureano was arrested by borough police on Feb. 6 following a nearly seven-month investigation and charged with second-degree sexual assault, fourth-degree criminal sexual contact and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.
On July 17, 2017, the victim, then-15 years old, reported to the Roxbury Police Department that she had been sexually assaulted by Laureano while she was in Hopatcong, according to the affidavit of probable cause from Laureano’s arrest.
The victim told officers that the then-23-year-old Laureano had impregnated her at the time of the assault and the pregnancy was aborted at a hospital, the affidavit states.
