Two teams of students from Christa McAuliffe School 28 in Jersey City have been named winners of this year’s Lexus Eco Challenge, earning a total sum of $20,000.
The Lexus Eco Challenge, a national scholarship competition for teenagers across the country in grades 6 through 12, aims to inspire and empower young people to learn about the environment and take steps to make it better for their communities — and the world.
The two teams from the Jersey City grammar school — Plastic Elastic 3.0 and The Styro-Terminators — will both receive $10,000 for their projects and will also have a chance to win an additional $30,000 in the final challenge of the 11th annual competition.
