| Newton water system violated drinking standard in 2017 |
A public notice has been issued to residents informing them that the town’s water system violated a drinking water standard in 2017, but there is no immediate risk.
A notice, dated Jan. 30, was issued by the Town of Newton to customers of the Water and Sewer Utility which stated that the system was found to have exceeded the standard, or maximum contaminant level for total trihalomethanes, or TTHM, for the 2017 calendar year.
