| Local school bus driver busted for child porn accepts plea deal |
A Stanhope man who admitted to viewing child pornography during his breaks while working for the Byram Bus Line, where he was contracted to provide transportation for Sparta elementary students, accepted a plea that calls for a sentence of five years in state prison.
Eugene Triston, 57, appeared in state Superior Court in front of Judge William J. McGovern III late Monday afternoon.
Triston pleaded guilty to an amended, single charge of second-degree endangering the welfare of children. He was initially charged with second-degree distribution of child pornography and third-degree possession of child pornography.
Triston was employed by the Byram Bus Line in Stanhope from November 2015 until February 2016. The bus company is contracted to provide student transportation for the Sparta School District.
