A Jersey City teen charged with fatally striking a deaf man while fleeing police in a stolen vehicle had been released from a juvenile detention center less than three weeks before the Jan. 23 tragedy.
Oriental J. Hamlet, 19 — who police say crashed through the bus stop at Communipaw Avenue and Kennedy Boulevard where Umar King, 33, was waiting for a bus at 4:30 a.m. that day — was ordered detained through his prosecution today at a detention hearing.
