Crowd starts forming for Frelinghuysen’s congressional seat

John Sette, the former longtime Morris County GOP leader, said he would always tell Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen, R-11, to look not once, not twice, but three times before he crossed the street.

“That’s how many people want his job,” said Sette.

Frelinghuysen, 71, the latest in a long line of Frelinghuysens to hold political office, announced on Monday that he won’t run for a 13th term in Congress. The powerful chairman of the House Appropriations Committee was first elected to Congress in 1994……

…Quickly, a series of names have surfaced as potential Republican candidates to take Frelinghuysen’s seat. Mentioned by political observers as possible GOP candidates were Assemblyman Anthony Bucco, R-Morris; Sen. Joseph Pennacchio, R-Morris; Assemblyman Jay Webber, R-Morris; and Morris County Freeholder Christine Myers of Mendham Township.
