Former East Rutherford business owner arrested after 15 years as fugitive
A former East Rutherford business owner was indicted in 2003, but not arrested until Friday on fraud charges after he fled to Morocco for nearly 15 years, according to authorities.
Steven Nacim, 49, a Moroccan national, co-owned Computer 3000 based in East Rutherford and Morocco with his half-brother Mohamed Elcohen, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito announced in a press release. Omar Aboueljinane, a cousin of Nacim, worked at the company as well.
The company bought $2.5 million in computers and equipment using company checks on insufficient funds and then shipped them to Morocco, according to Carpenito.
